I'm over you, nasi goreng!
Let’s rewind to a couple of years ago. I would never dream of being able to say this without looking at myself then, saying, “Keep telling yourself that.” Me and nasi goreng, we go a long way back. I have been in and out of relationship with nasi goreng many many times more than I do with boys. Focus, people. Nasi goreng, we’re talking about nasi goreng here. If nasi is the most essential thing...

Eating efficiently. Working.. not so much.
So the other day my super cheap and slow internet connection decided that I had been taking it for granted and stopped downloading a sizable series of files emailed to yours truly, when my life was depending on them (kidding, just my upcoming holiday). Since I would’ve rather died than sacrificed another holiday, I said to myself that I should’ve gone to find a place with decent wi-fi. And with...

Going Global
An Indonesian eating English banoffie at a French bread shop next to a Chinese restaurant in the capital of Vietnam. Five years since last time I had this scrumptious pie. Ready to go home now.

Where Do You Go for Lunch?
It’s 11.30 am, you know what time it is. Lunch time. Where should I go for lunch? The other question just as equally important is, what and where to eat. Yea, I’ve just combined two questions in one sentence. Again, it’s lunch time. I shouldn’t be writing, I should be eating. Where should I go? Not too far from where I work, about two-minute walk, there is this warung where everything that goes...

Horison's End →
Looking at this photo makes me think of all the things in life I could figure out if only I took the time to ponder. Naaah. Maybe later.

ILSHMEAALWWWIR
I’m going to be honest with you. I’ve always had problems with digital writing. And with digital writing people. Mostly with the people. I find their writing style ‘different’. Yes, I come from that dark age where ‘different’ scares the hell out of me. Here. Here, read this article and see what I’m talking about. I promise you while it’s an...

On free ebooks.
“Why do you spend so much money on books when you can download them for free?” That has got to be the stupidest question ever directed towards me, by a writer. Because I am a self-respecting writer, that is why. And if I ever give you a book as a present, that is because I see you just as much. Every once in a while, I download a certain book for free it is usually because the time it...

Estheresque Epiphany #14
When you see a friend who normally wears a tee to almost every occasion is now wearing a collared shirt just to hang out with you, there are usually hickeys involved. No, under no circumstances you should point it out and embarrass them in the presence of new acquaintances. Instead, offer them your jacket or your scarf, and they’ll owe you one. A big one.

Just passing some time...
You have a day off. You decide to stay in. Since you’re staying in, you wake up late. And you refuse to shower. You don’t go anywhere, anyway. You eat leftover for late breakfast (or early lunch, whichever). After you solemnly thank the inanimate microwave for making it possible. You turn your dying computer on. You realise you have homework. You tell yourself, “I’ll do it later.” You sleep right...

Whose Idea Was It?
Who’s to blame for the existence of chocolate chips? Did nobody tell them how annoying it was in the mouth? Scratch that. No one is to blame more than they who decide to keep it on the market. Seriously, guys. Were it not for the unnecessary chocolate chips, this Double Dutch ice cream would be perfect. You hear me, Wall’s?

Wasted Weekend, Whaaat?
Wasted weekend is when you buy a book on a Friday for weekend reading and your silly self leaves it at work. The next day you realize you still have something to do and you go to your office, stay there for a few hours and head out without even remembering about the book. When you get home, you find out that you have left you computer charger at the office so you go back there again, and when you...

Do you want to write but not write?
Everyone wants to write but they don’t want to write. You know what I mean. We want to have a writer’s life where everything looks easy. Yet writing is the last thing we want to do because it takes an awful lot of hard work. Yes, some of the writers have it easy, they go places and write from experience. The not-so-lucky ones have to do tonnes of research to produce something. Most of...

Outdoing Oneself
I’m proud to say that today I actually unlocked a personal achievement: Outdoing myself. No joking. Today, I miraculously managed to come up with rubric names, make editorial plan and create the pagination [dramatic pause for the most important part] USING MICROSOFT EXCEL all by myself without actually tearing out my hair by the root. Alright then. I think a celebratory drink is in order.
